Coaching on the floor, not behind a desk
Every session has a qualified coach present on the gym floor. Not to sell you a personal training package, but because good coaching is part of the membership.
Iron Blend Land is a dedicated strength and conditioning gym built around free weights, functional movement, and a coaching team that actually pays attention to how you lift.
Unlimited access to all group strength classes across the week. Classes follow the current 12-week block and are capped at 12 people. Includes access to open gym outside class times and use of the mobility and recovery area.
Full access to the gym floor during all open hours, including early mornings from 5:30 am. Does not include group classes but includes the cold plunge, mobility area, and all equipment. Suitable for members following their own programming.
Combines group classes and open gym access. The most popular option for members who attend two or three group sessions per week and want the flexibility to come in on other days for additional work.
Four one-to-one sessions covering the four primary movement patterns: squat, hinge, press, and pull. Each session is 60 minutes. On completion, you receive a written movement assessment and a recommendation for which group class level to join.

We run structured 12-week training blocks across all our group classes. You are not doing random workouts. You are following a plan that compounds week on week.
Barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, and pull-up rigs take up most of the floor. Cardio machines are here, but they are not the point.
If you have ever trained consistently for a few months and then stalled, the problem is usually not effort. It is structure. A 12-week strength block is a specific way of organising training so that each week builds on the last, rather than treating every session as a standalone event. Here is how it works and why it matters.
Read more →The hip hinge is the most important movement pattern in strength training that most people have never been explicitly taught. It underpins the deadlift, the Romanian deadlift, the kettlebell swing, and the good morning. Get it right and you have a foundation for serious loading. Get it wrong and you will compensate with your lower back every time the weight gets heavy.

The enthusiasm is not entirely misplaced, but the claims made about it often outrun the evidence. Here is an honest account of what the research says and how we use the cold plunge at Iron Blend Land.

Marcus Holt spent six years as a coach at a large commercial gym before opening Iron Blend Land in 2018. He holds a Level 4 Strength and Conditioning qualification and completed a postgraduate certificate in sports science at Loughborough University in 2013. Before going out on his own, he ran the strength programme for a semi-professional football club in the East Midlands for two seasons. He is a competitive powerlifter in the 93 kg class and has totalled over 700 kg in competition, though he is the first to say that his best coaching days are the ones where a member finally nails their hip hinge. He reads obsessively about periodisation theory and keeps a paper training log, which he considers non-negotiable.
